Veteran Nigerian actor and one of the few surviving actors in popular old TV drama, The Village Headmaster, Joseph Abiodun Babatunde Adu, popularly known as Jab Adu, is dead.
The 83-year-old actor reportedly passed away in Abeokuta, Ogun State, yesterday, Sunday, February 28, 2016. It was gathered that before his demise he had been battling with a minor illness associated with old age.
Trained as a professional banker before settling as an actor, late Jab Adu had an illustrious career on stage, television and film.
Apart from playing ‘Bassey Okon’ in ‘The Village Headmaster’, Jab Adu was a film producer with credits including “Bisi, Daughter of the River” and “Adio’s Family”, a series he co-produced with NTA.
Jab Adu’s demise comes few days after the movie industry mourned the passing of Kannywood actress, Aisha Dankano. The industry had earlier witnessed the demise of faces such as teen actor, Olamide David, Sikiru Adeshina better known as Arakangudu, Festus Aguebor, Dede One Day and Mike Odiache.
