Multiple award winning songstress, Keri Hilson has been announced as the official mentor for the second season of Airtel TRACE Music Star, the biggest pan-African talent search competition. The singer will be on the hunt for Africa’s next music talent from March 2016.
The second season of the talent hunt was ushered in with a press parley which held at Maison Fahrenheit Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, on March, 2, 2016.
Speaking on the show, the Managing Director of TRACE Nigeria, Sam Onyemelukwe, disclosed that “this season’s mentor, Keri Hilson will be attending the grand finale of event billed for Lagos in June 2016.”
With 2.3 million calls made in its previous season, the Airtel TRACE Music Star (ATMS) talent search is the biggest music competition to ever take place in Africa. The grand finale will be held in Lagos, Nigeria in June 2016.
To participate in the talent hunt, contestants will need to dial 5678 from an Airtel line, and record their songs to stand a chance to become the next big music star in Africa.
The grand prize comprises a mentorship program with multi-award winning American singer-songwriter, Keri Hilson in Atlanta. The winner will not only star in their own music video alongside Keri Hilson, he/she will get an opportunity to record a duet with the ‘Knock You Down’ singer, as well as receive a signed contract with a major music label inclusive of a worldwide media exposure through various TRACE’s platforms.
Tanzanian singer, Mayunga who won the previous season of the contest won a record deal as well as promotion for a total value exceeding $500,000 and a mentorship programme with international singer, Akon. His first track christened ‘Nice Couple’ reached number 1 on all major radio and TV charts in his home country, Tanzania. The singer recently recorded a duet with Akon entitled ‘Please Don’t Go Away’ in Los Angeles.
